China steps up marine inspections

BEIJING -- China has begun a new round of marine inspections to deal with land reclamation problems, according to the State Oceanic Administration.
This round of inspections will focus on reclamation processes as well as marine resource exploitation and utilization.
All five inspection teams sent by the administration arrived in Guangdong, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces, and Shanghai and Tianjin Municipalities Tuesday.
The inspections, the second of the kind, will last about a month, and public feedback is welcomed via telephone hotlines and PO boxes.
The first round of inspections were carried out in Fujian, Hainan, Hebei, Jiangsu and Liaoning provinces, and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in August.
