Li congratulates UK's Johnson on election win

Premier Li Keqiang sent a message to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday congratulating him on winning last week's general election. In his message, Li said China-Britain relations have generally maintained development momentum in recent years. Li said he hopes that the two sides will, on the basis of mutual respect, consolidate mutual political trust, expand practical cooperation, and push for sustained and sound development of China-Britain ties, so as to make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability, as well as promoting further development of multilateralism and an open world economy.

Blue alert issued for blizzard in north

The National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert-the least severe in a four-tier system-for heavy snowstorms in northern China from Sunday to Monday. The center said heavy snow will hit parts of Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, as well as the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Beijing, with three to five centimeters of snowfall expected. The center urged local authorities to take precautions with roads, railways, electricity infrastructure and telecommunications. A number of cities, including Beijing, also issued an alert for road icing.
