Economist says US sanctions to have minor impact on HK

The US sanctions on Hong Kong, which conflict with its own interests, will have little impact on the global financial center, said Francis Lui, an economist at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
In an interview with China Daily, the professor emeritus said that the US is unlikely to go as far as de-pegging the US dollar to Hong Kong's currency because the move would run afoul of US policy of monetary hegemony.
