Zhiziluo is a small village in the mountains of Southwest China's Yunnan province. Because of its rich forest resources, the villagers used to cut trees on the mountains for a living. However, this was far from enough to end the deep poverty here and took a toll on the environment.
China's pursuit of green and sustainable development changed their way of life. He Yongchun, a former lumberjack in the village, works as a forest ranger. He also has led other villagers to capitalize on local geological advantages and grow profitable crops to increase their income.
Watch the video to see how the village made the mountains green again and shook off poverty.
