An online promotional event for the low-carbon energy and environmental technology subsection of the fifth China International Import Expo was held on April 12. The fifth CIIE will take place in Shanghai this November.
Themed "Low-carbon development and green recovery", the subsection will focus on industries such as new materials, new energy, energy-efficient architecture, and water treatment. More than 40 companies have booked a combined 14,000 square meters of exhibition space in the subsection, whose total area is expected to surpass that of the fourth edition.
The subsection is expected to enhance international cooperation in saving energy and reducing carbon emissions and contribute to the world's green and sustainable development, said Shi Zuoting, deputy director of the National Energy Conservation Center.
The center will leverage the CIIE to promote domestic and overseas green technologies and equipment, added Shi.
Exhibitors who have signed up for the fifth CIIE, such as Baker Hughes, Alfa Laval and ConocoPhillips, made several suggestions related to the subsection while a representative from China State Shipbuilding Offshore Wind Power Co shared the company's procurement plan. More than 60 companies and 20 organizations involved in the low-carbon energy and environmental technology sectors also attended the meeting.
To date, more than 70 percent of the planned exhibition area has already been booked, according to Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau. The bureau will intensify efforts in exhibition organization, purchaser attraction, preferential policy introduction, holding sideline events and increasing publicity to bring more benefits to exhibitors, he added.
