A parallel session of the 2022 Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week was held in Taizhou, Zhejiang province July 21.

The conference, which was held in Taizhou for the first time, was attended by more than 200 business representatives from Taizhou and Taiwan.

Wu Jing, vice chairwoman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, pointed out at the opening ceremony that Zhejiang has long maintained close links with Taiwan in trade, culture and people-to-people exchanges, and that the Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week serves as an important platform to deepen cross-Straits economic and trade cooperation, and integrated development.

Li Yueqi, Party chief of Taizhou, said the city will use the event to strengthen ties with Taiwan and pledged that the local government will create a congenial business climate for Taiwan businesses.

A direct sea route linking Taizhou's Yuhuan city with Taiwan's Taichung was launched at the opening ceremony. This is the second route connecting Taizhou to the island, with first being the one linking Yuhuan's Daimaiyu Port with Taiwan's Keelung.

Over the next few days, a series of activities will be held to facilitate cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in fields including culture, rural development as well as manufacturing.

Taizhou has kept close links with Taiwan in fields of industry, technology and finance in recent years. The city has been designated a provincial pilot zone for cross-Straits cooperation in the reform of finance services for small and micro enterprises. Taizhou's Xianju county is also home to one of only three national level entrepreneurship parks for Taiwan farmers in Zhejiang.
