In 2022, Sanya built four new yacht wharves, with over 950 water berths. The number of newly-registered yachts reached 462, up 43.03 percent from the previous year. In addition, the total number of registered yachts in Sanya reached 1,137, up 20.32 percent year on year.

The reform and innovation of Sanya's cruise and yacht industry have been steadily promoted and developed in the last year. The Sanya International Yacht Center will soon be completed and put into use, and construction of the Nanbianhai International Yacht Wharf has begun. The first policy for second-hand yacht trading in China was established, and the Hainan International Yacht Design Competition was held. The Sanya Yacht Tourism Service Standard was also issued to regulate yacht tourism consumption.

During the New Year holiday from Dec 31, 2022 to Jan 2, 2023, Sanya saw a surge of tourists going to sea by yacht. Transport companies and yacht clubs set sail more than 2,600 times, transporting over 105,000 passengers, with the number of tourists increasing by 38.2 percent compared with last year.

It is expected that during the Spring Festival holiday, the number of yachts sailing per day will double that of the New Year holiday, and the number of marine tourists will reach about 50,000 per day.
