First China Jilin DOC FEST promotes development of documentary industry


On Jan 6, the first China Jilin DOC FEST opened in Jilin city, with the theme "Documenting the World, Imaging Jilin". The conference brought together global documentary creators and experts, focusing on pitching documentary proposals and introducing various activities to promote the development of Jilin's documentary industry. A total of 138 proposals were collected, with 15 outstanding works making it to the pitching session. Some proposals will receive financial support and production services to help them debut at international film festivals.
At the opening ceremony, Cao Lubao, member of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and director of the Publicity Department, emphasized that Jilin province will continue to optimize the environment for documentary creation. Zhu Yannan, Party secretary and director of the Development Research Center of the National Radio and Television Administration, also shared his insights on the high-quality development of documentaries.
Meanwhile, the conference launched the "Documenting the World, Imaging Jilin" Youth Image Creation Plan, encouraging young creators nationwide to capture Jilin's unique charm through their lenses.
In addition, the conference released the key documentary projects for 2025 by Jilin Radio and Television Station and launched the large-scale documentary Mr. North. The 2024 China Top Ten Most Influential Documentaries were also announced during the conference, covering various fields and showcasing the creative innovation and dissemination power of Chinese documentaries.
