Editor's note: The State Council Information Office invited representatives from the field of ecological and environmental protection to share their stories in environmental protection on Thursday.

Although my working conditions are tough, I've never backed down. I always hold myself to high standards and strictly follow technical guidelines to ensure the quality of the monitoring data. Some people might think monitoring is dull and ordinary, but I firmly believe that "doing every ordinary thing to the best of your ability is what makes it extraordinary."

Gu Shumao, senior engineer at Shandong Provincial Eco-environment Monitoring Center

Nuclear safety leaves no room for even the smallest mistake. We have zero tolerance for fraud or rule-breaking, and we ensure absolute nuclear safety with unwavering dedication.

As an environmental volunteer, our daily tools might simply be a trash picker, a garbage bin and a pile of environmental awareness pamphlets. We focus on five main types of volunteer activities: water protection awareness campaigns, shoreline cleanups, river patrols, tree planting and discouraging uncivilized behaviors — all to ensure not a single drop of polluted water enters our rivers and reservoirs. Currently, over 80 percent of Beijing's and all of Tianjin's urban drinking water comes from Danjiangkou Reservoir. As both a guardian of this vital water source and an environmental volunteer, I take immense pride in this responsibility.

Yuan Hui, an environmental volunteer from Danjiangkou, Hubei province

Although we have achieved significant progress in air pollution control, there is still a gap compared to international leading standards. We have a long way to go. However, I firmly believe that with unwavering commitment and persistent efforts, we will make clear skies and clean air a permanent reality.

Hu Jingnan, director of atmospheric environment institute at the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences

In my view, laws should not only have the force of a steel stamp but also the gentle power to heal. I often visit schools and communities to give legal education lectures and organize volunteer activities. To date, I have reached thousands of people. As a young environmental protector, I believe youth is a time for action and dedication. I will remain on the front lines, tirelessly defending our country's clear waters and blue skies through unwavering commitment.
