Jiangxi province's first self-developed ecological environment monitoring satellite, "Nanchang Aerospace-1", was successfully launched via a Zhuque-2 carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on May 17 at 12:12 pm. Co-developed by Nanchang Hangkong University and Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute, the satellite launch signifies a significant breakthrough in Jiangxi's cross-disciplinary aerospace technology applications.

Equipped with a high-precision remote sensing system, the satellite enables round-the-clock pollutant monitoring in key areas such as Poyang Lake, Ganjiang River, and the Yangtze River Basin, supporting habitat conservation for endangered species like finless porpoises and Siberian cranes. Its 3D real-scene imaging capabilities, integrated into a "space-air-ground" monitoring platform, can detect millimeter-level runway cracks, track aviation weather dynamics in real time, and provide intelligent navigation for drone logistics.

The satellite's applications will drive progress in three key areas: building an ecological big data center to advance the "Beautiful China Jiangxi Model"; fostering low-altitude economy innovations in smart agriculture and disaster early warning; and upgrading aviation disciplines (for instance, aircraft design, airspace management) to empower Nanchang Aviation City's 100-billion-yuan industrial cluster and national low-altitude economy integration. The university plans to leverage satellite data for cutting-edge courses and industry partnerships to cultivate applied aerospace talent.?
