Shanghai will establish overseas cargo stations in Ethiopia and Mexico to better facilitate the dual circulation development via more convenient logistics service, according to the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd.

Two overseas cargo stations will be launched respectively at Ethiopia's Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and Mexico City International Airport, according to the strategic collaboration agreements inked between Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co Ltd (PACTL) and Ethiopian Airlines Group and Lufthansa Cargo on Wednesday (June 4) respectively during an international logistics exhibition in Munich, Germany.

Parties to the agreements would strengthen collaborations including business extension, market development, technology exchange, logistics efficiency and brand promotion, providing logistical aid to China's dual circulation development and Shanghai's high-quality development.

Through deepening collaborations with international aviation companies, Shanghai Airport (Group) aims to further expand its international network as an air cargo hub.

The 40,000 square meters Ethiopian overseas cargo station is projected to handle more than 600,000 tons of cargo per year, while the 10,000-sq m station in Mexico is expected to handle more than 100,000 tons annually by completion.

The establishment of the two overseas cargo stations would further enhance Shanghai's connectivity in cargo service and offer a strong support for Shanghai's development as an all-around gateway and a comprehensive international aviation hub.
