Departure tax refund policy to expand

China will expand its departure tax refund policy to Dalian, Liaoning province in Northeast China, and to Hubei province in Central China from July 1, the Ministry of Finance said. The policy allows tourists from overseas to claim back value-added tax on eligible purchases made at designated tax refund stores before leaving China. Eligible regions can adopt the policy after filing with relevant government departments.

Enhanced skills for safer rail transport

Chinese railway operators have ushered in innovative ways to increase the skills of railway employees for smooth rail transport. Employees of China Railway Taiyuan Group have organized a variety of small-group competitions in a bid to enhance their working skills. Its Qinhuangdao communication workshop under the Taiyuan Communication Section has adopted a mode of "promoting capabilities through learning and replacing training by work" — an initiative that effectively stimulates the enthusiasm of young employees to improve their skills. It creates a learning atmosphere through competition and mutual improvement, enhancing the overall quality of staff members.

Drone-charging cabinet deployed

Chinese power workers are making innovations to bolster smart power line inspections. At a drone storage base of State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Co in Jiangsu province, an intelligent drone-charging cabinet has been put into use, improving the inspection efficiency on power transmission lines. As a "jack-of-all-trades", it is compatible with batteries from multiple mainstream drones and their corresponding remote controllers. Employee He Qi from the transmission and substation operation and inspection center said a single cabinet can charge and discharge up to 15 batteries simultaneously, raising charging efficiency by about 90 percent while helping ensure the safe and stable operation of the local power grid.
