Chinese smart solutions to boost Thai durian production

Within the Southeast Asia, Thailand is the largest supplier of durian to China -- its biggest consumer market worldwide.
Data from China Customs showed that the country imported about 1.56 million metric tons of durian with a total value of $6.99 billion last year, setting new records. Of the total, nearly 60 percent came from Thailand.
Once regarded as a niche fruit from tropical countries, durian is now gaining global popularity, propelling Thailand into the spotlight as the world's undisputed "king of durian exports".
To enhance agriculture efficiency and help local fruits to meet higher export standard, Chinese high-tech companies are joining hands with Thai farmers to empower the industry with smart solutions.
Through introducing the smart solutions and advanced technology, the water and fertilizer consumption in the farms have improved significantly, further leading to a healthy production.
