The meteorological station in Jizhou district, Tianjin, downgraded its rainstorm alert from red to orange at 11:30 am on Monday. Red is the highest level and orange the second of the four-tier system.

Due to severe rainfall, 5,694 residents across the district have been relocated, and 15 bus routes have been suspended.

According to the local weather authorities, scattered thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, with some areas likely to experience intense rainfall. From evening into the night, the district is forecast to be hit by heavy to torrential rain, with some areas possibly seeing extremely heavy rain accompanied by short-term downpours and thunderstorms with wind gusts.

Authorities have warned of the risks of urban waterlogging, geological disasters in mountainous areas, and potential floods in small and medium-sized rivers.
