Yangquan is forging a new narrative of connectivity, from the scenic Taihang No 1 Tourist Highway to smart public transportation.

As Shanxi province's eastern gateway, Yangquan serves as a vital corridor linking Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province and stands as a crucial hub in the China-Europe freight train network.

The city boasts a comprehensive transportation network, featuring one high-speed passenger railway, three freight railways, four highways, eight national and provincial roads, and 174 county and township roads.

Yangquan has also made smart transportation a cornerstone of its development strategy, advancing five smart projects: highways, freight, public transport, taxis, and parking, enabling residents to enjoy convenience and efficiency.

The city marked a significant milestone on Feb 26, 2024, with the departure of a China-Europe freight train carrying domestic brand automobiles to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Another train concurrently arrived in Yangquan carrying 1,616 metric tons of imported potash fertilizer from Belarus.

This marked Yangquan's first launch of a China-Europe freight train and the first instance in the province of dual-direction services being initiated in a single city.
