Tourists flock west and northeast for cool summer retreats

With high temperatures in central and eastern China, tourists from these regions are flocking to western and northeastern areas to escape the summer heat, a report says.
Online travel platform LY.com, together with weather forecast app MojiWeather, released a report about the summer retreat travel trend.
The proportion of long-distance travel orders on the platform increased over last year, and cross-provincial road trips and stargazing tours are popular among visitors.
According to the data from LY.com, among the 10 provinces with the fastest growth in the popularity of domestic flights and hotel bookings from July 1 to 24, western provinces accounted for more than 60 percent. Qinghai province led the nation with the popularity of flights and hotel bookings increasing by over 40 percent month-on-month.
