The animated blockbuster Nobody (Langlangshan Xiaoyaoguai) has sparked a surge of interest in Shanxi's ancient architecture, drawing tourists eager to see the province's cultural heritage that inspired the film's rich depictions.

"Visitor numbers have doubled compared to last year," said Yue Lifang, manager of Yong'an Temple. Before the film's release, the site welcomed about 1,600 visitors daily. After release, the tourist number has soared to over 2,000 daily, with weekends surpassing 3,000.

The film meticulously recreates Yong'an Temple's major treasures: a 180-square-meter Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) mural serves as a key plot element, while 882 deity figures come to life on screen. Visitors marvel at the accurate recreation of the site in the film, filling Yue and her colleagues with pride.

In addition to Yong'an Temple, other Shanxi landmarks like Foguang, Jinci, and Shanhua temples also feature prominently in the movie. Jinci Temple, after the film's release, experienced record-breaking summer visitor numbers, with Aug 2 and 3 breaking non-holiday records. The highest single-day visitor count reached 25,800, generating ticket revenue of 1.26 million yuan ($175,600).

The film's strong Shanxi influence reflects director Yu Shui's deep nostalgia for his homeland. By channeling this sentiment into the film, he has created a cultural bridge, introducing Shanxi's architectural treasures to a wider audience and fostering greater appreciation for the province's rich history.
