China condemns US plan to curtail Chinese journalists' stay

Beijing on Thursday voiced its opposition to Washington's discriminatory move limiting Chinese nationals' stay in the United States.
Citing a proposed US government regulation issued on Wednesday, Reuters reported that under the proposed regulation, visas for journalists — which currently can last years — would be limited to 240 days or, in the case of Chinese nationals, 90 days.
The visa holders could apply for extensions, Reuters reported.
In response, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that closer people-to-people exchanges between China and the US are in the interests of both countries.
"We oppose the US' discriminatory move targeting a specific country," Guo said.
