Unmanned technology goes online to safeguard power grid during peak period

On August 24, the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company innovatively applied the integrated device for UAV live-line inspection and grounding, and successfully completed the work of live-line inspection and connecting/disconnecting ground wires.
This device enables fast and accurate live-line inspection of transmission lines through remote operation, reducing the risk of electric shock to personnel and improving the accuracy and safety of live-line inspection work. Meanwhile, it can realize remote connection and disconnection of ground wires, enhancing the efficiency and safety of ground wire connection and disconnection operations.
Since the application of this device, there has been no occurrence of personal electric shock or equipment damage. The exposure time of personnel engaged in high-risk operations has been reduced by 100 percent, the time required for a single live-line inspection and grounding operation has been shortened from 2 hours to less than 30 minutes, and the power outage duration has been cut by 80 percent.
The State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company will further improve the technology of the new device and the formulation of standardized operation procedures. In the follow-up, it will promote the device nationwide to further drive the in-depth integration and innovative development of technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles, sensors, and intelligent control in the field of power operation and maintenance.
