Xi, leaders engage in high-level talks


Beijing, Minsk sign documents in multiple areas
President Xi Jinping has called on China and Belarus to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and strengthen the alignment of their development strategies to continue to create new highlights and growth in bilateral cooperation.
Xi made the remarks on Sunday when meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Tianjin. The two countries signed multiple bilateral cooperation documents in areas such as science and technology, finance, transportation, and customs inspection and quarantine.
The all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Belarus is developing at a high level, Xi said, adding that both sides should continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns.
As the years 2024 and 2025 were designated as the China-Belarus years of science and technology innovation, Xi said the two nations should make full use of the outcomes to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces and contribute to the growth and revitalization of both countries.
The two sides should also strengthen coordination within multilateral frameworks and push for the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, he added. Xi noted that the people of China and Belarus had fought side by side, making significant contributions to crush militarism and fascism, and in the process forged a deep friendship.
China would like to work with Belarus to practice true multilateralism and make joint efforts to promote world peace, development, cooperation and win-win results, Xi said.
Lukashenko emphasized that as China's all-weather partner and reliable friend, Belarus is ready to strengthen exchanges with China on governance experience, deepen practical cooperation across various fields, and further promote bilateral relations.
