Turkmenistan's strategy aligns with BRI

President Xi Jinping has called on China and Turkmenistan to expand cooperation on natural gas, continue to broaden collaboration in nonresource fields, enhance connectivity, accelerate the Luban Workshop program and establish cultural centers in each other's country, to deliver more outcomes in bilateral cooperation.

He made the remarks when meeting with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xi said that China is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Central Asian country to build a China-Turkmenistan community with a shared future.

He stressed that China supports Turkmenistan in its policy of permanent neutrality and its efforts to safeguard independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Xi also called for closer coordination and cooperation between the two countries within the frameworks of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the China-Central Asia mechanism.

He said that both China and Turkmenistan made tremendous sacrifices in securing the victory of World War II, urging the two sides to resolutely safeguard the victorious outcomes and jointly uphold world peace.

Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan's strategy to revive the Great Silk Road aligns well with the Belt and Road Initiative.

Turkmenistan fully supports the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Xi, Berdimuhamedov added.
