As a landmark event that symbolizes China's dedication to global trade, the China International Import Expo provides an inspiring platform for businesses from all over the world to showcase their innovations, engage with Chinese consumers and partners in various areas, and embrace China's development opportunities, Bill Anderson, chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, said.

Anderson made the remarks after the annual grand meeting kicked off in Shanghai on Wednesday morning. He noted that the CIIE has been successfully held for seven years, with its influence growing with each passing year.

"For Bayer, this event is more than a tradition — it's an opportunity to showcase how we're working to address the needs of the people we serve in China and around the world," Anderson said. "We're proud to be here for the eighth year in a row, collaborating with our partners to explore bold ideas and create shared value."

"The world today is navigating immense challenges — population growth, aging societies, and the urgent realities of climate change," he added. "These are not small problems, and they demand big solutions. We believe innovation and collaboration are the keys to unlocking sustainable development."

At this year's CIIE, the German life sciences company will showcase its innovations in healthcare and agriculture. Meanwhile, it's focused on fostering partnerships that drive innovation and create value for the communities it serves.

"By connecting local expertise with our global capabilities, we aim to tackle the pressing challenges of today — whether it's improving access to healthcare or ensuring sustainable food systems for the future," Anderson said.

"From both an innovation and market perspective, China stands as one of Bayer's most vital strategic pillars," he added. "Our commitment to investing in this market is unwavering. Over the past year, we have launched new projects and double down our investment in China. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and remain steadfast in our mission to contribute positively to the Chinese economy."
