Young woman too terrified to open door

A young woman refused to open the door to police and neighbours who smelt gas
from her apartment and attempted to rescue her while she thought it was a water
company official demanding that she pay her bill.
Police arrived outside the young woman's apartment after a neighbour reported
that he could smell gas.
They knocked the door, but no one answered. Fearing that the young woman may
have been poisoned by the gas, they broke down the door and found the woman
hiding in her bedroom.
She later admitted that she did not open the door because she thought it was
the man who had come to collect her water bill.
As to the gas leakage, the woman said that she was used to the smell, which
she said was from an outdated water heater.
