Over the 20 years since its return to China in 1999, Macao has emerged as a major center for international conferences and tourism, Rafael Custodio Marques, Mozambique's consul general for the Macao SAR, told China Daily. He also said Macao serves as a critical channel for Mozambique to cooperate with China.
Macao is counting down to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the city's return to its motherland. Macao held a light festival, and Macao Light Rapid Transit put into operation.
