Hatfishing refers to tricking a potential dating partner by wearing a hat to hide one’s baldness or receding hairline.
“戴帽遮掩”指的是戴帽子掩蓋禿頂或脫發(fā)的樣子，欺騙潛在的約會對象。

When the internet talks about hatfishing, it’s regarded as a male analogue to women who overdo makeup. The idea is that both sexes use some form of trickery to misrepresent who they are underneath.
當(dāng)網(wǎng)友們提到“戴帽遮掩”時，指的是男性對女性做出的一些掩飾自己的行為。這種說法是基于男性和女性都會使用一些花招，來掩蓋他們真實(shí)的樣子。

Hatfishing這種說法效仿了catfishing，這也是網(wǎng)絡(luò)交友的一種常用伎倆。

Catfishing is the practice of lying about yourself in an online environment, usually with the elaborate fabrication of an online identity, in order to impress others, especially to trick someone into a relationship.
