美方反對(duì)臺(tái)“入聯(lián)公投”

國(guó)家主席胡錦濤2月26日下午在人民大會(huì)堂會(huì)見了來訪的美國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)卿賴斯。賴斯表示，美方在臺(tái)灣當(dāng)局推動(dòng)的“入聯(lián)公投”問題上多次表明立場(chǎng)，認(rèn)為“入聯(lián)公投”不應(yīng)舉行。那么“入聯(lián)公投”應(yīng)該怎么表達(dá)呢？

Rice said the United States appreciates Chinese efforts in resolving issues such as Darfur, and hopes China will continue to play a positive role. She reiterated her country's adherence to the one-China policy and again warned the Taiwan authorities against an attempt to hold a referendum on the island's UN membership.
賴斯表示，美方感謝中方在達(dá)爾富爾等問題上做出的積極努力，希望中方繼續(xù)為有關(guān)問題解決發(fā)揮積極作用。她再次重申了美方堅(jiān)持“一個(gè)中國(guó)”的立場(chǎng)并反對(duì)臺(tái)灣當(dāng)局推動(dòng)的“入聯(lián)公投”。
這里的referendum就是“公民投票”的意思。Hold a referendum on the island's UN membership 是就臺(tái)灣申請(qǐng)加入聯(lián)合國(guó)一事舉行公民投票，簡(jiǎn)稱“入聯(lián)公投”，the island 指的當(dāng)然就是臺(tái)灣島了，因此我們也可以說a referendum on Taiwan's UN membership。
