Each citizen has the right to decide which kind of language they are going to speak, and similarly, TV and radio stations have the right to decide whether dialects or putonghua will be used in their programs. The popularity of some dialects in some areas such as Guangdong areas will not challenge the dominant role of Mandarin in the whole country.
