China appoints new minister of environmental protection

BEIJING -- China's top legislature appointed Li Ganjie as Minister of Environmental Protection on Tuesday, replacing Chen Jining.
Wang Menghui was named Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to replace Chen Zhenggao.
The decisions were adopted at the bi-monthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which runs from Thursday to Tuesday.
