Cross-straits book fair to be held in Taiwan

TAIPEI — The 14th Cross-Straits Book Fair will be held in Taiwan from Aug 16 to 23, organizers announced Thursday.
The main exhibition due on Aug 17 in Taipei will feature hundreds of publishers, copyright agencies and libraries from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Meanwhile, four parallel sessions will be held in the city of Keelung, and Chiayi, Pingtung and Nantou counties in addition to a newly introduced online portal for the event.
As this year marks the 30th anniversary of the start of cross-straits copyright exchanges, a special exhibition on the exchanges will be arranged, said the organizer.
Hubei province, this year's guest of honor, is expected to bring a list of activities to promote its intangible cultural heritages and traditional food.
Founded in 2005, the annual book fair is held alternately in Taiwan and Fujian's coastal city of Xiamen.
A total of 2,360 cooperation agreements have been signed at the previous book fairs.
