Vice-premier presses for precision-targeted poverty alleviation

Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua, also head of the leading group of poverty alleviation and development of the State Council, made an inspection tour to Northwest China's Gansu province.
The Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture is home to multiple national minority groups, and is troubled by deep poverty.
Hu stressed the significance of all-around poverty alleviation, with further effort made in the region.
While visiting the local Dongxiang autonomous prefecture and Guanghe county, he surveyed the progress of industrial development, relocation and employment, among the top tasks to fight poverty.
Hu said the Tibet autonomous region, the south of Xinjiang autonomous region, and Zang autonomous prefectures in Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu province used to be a hard nut to crack for poverty alleviation. Departments concerned should target weak links and fully fulfill the work.
He added compulsory education, basic medical services, housing security and drinking water safety should be guaranteed.
In addition, a long-term mechanism for poverty relief and wealth acquirement should be established and infrastructure and basic public services should be improved, with further support for the development of local industries and economy, he said.
