US law would stymie HK as Greater Bay Area innovation, tech center

The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, signed into law recently by US President Donald Trump, would stymie Hong Kong's chances of becoming an innovation and technology center in the Greater Bay Area, said Hong Kong lawmaker and Executive Council member Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee.
This is because the bill empowers US regulators to closely monitor exports of technology via Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland, she explained.
