The Shanghai Pudong District Procuratorate was involved in the release of both groups of the turtles, overseeing the entire process.
A special task group was set up by the carrier of the remaining turtles, to ensure their safety during the trip.
Aside from turtles, other animals have also been transported by air in the past, including pandas, martens, penguins, flamingos and alpacas.
The rescue and release of the green turtles is part of China's efforts in strengthening wildlife protection and preserving biodiversity.
