China's national legislature to convene annual session on March 5

The 14th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, will kick off its second annual session in Beijing on March 5, according to a decision passed by the NPC Standing Committee on Friday.
The second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, has been suggested to begin on March 4. The suggestion was recently raised by the Chairperson's Council meeting of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.
The two sessions, as China's biggest annual political events, usually start in Beijing in early March. At that time, national lawmakers and political advisers travel to Beijing, not only reviewing important reports of the central government, NPC Standing Committee and top judicial authorities, but also discussing the nation's crucial economic and political issues, as well as participating in formulation or revision of laws related to people's interests and social development.
