President Xi Jinping has always emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting #intangibleculturalheritage. Following in his footsteps, let's explore the outstanding Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

Today, we highlight the Suzhou embroidery, one of the oldest and most representative forms of Chinese embroidery, boasting a legacy spanning over 2,000 years. Renowned for its intricate needlework, Suzhou embroidery features fine silk threads, lifelike imagery, soft color transitions, and remarkable double-sided designs.

During his visit to Suzhou, the birthplace of the craft, on July 6, 2023, President Xi met with Lu Jianying, a Suzhou embroidery master with over 30 years of experience. Xi learned that the craft has been passed down through four generations in Lu's family, from her grandmother to her daughter. Some pieces, he was told, can take up to a year to complete.

Impressed by the dedication and enduring legacy of the art, Xi remarked: "Through Suzhou embroidery, we can see how traditional Chinese culture has been passed on from generation to generation. It epitomizes the resilience, patience and perseverance of the Chinese people, which is part of the Chinese national spirit."
