An 18-year-old man from Lujiang county, Anhui province, who had been missing for over a month, has returned to China from Myanmar, his father told China Daily.

Hu Zongbing, the father of Hu Yixiao, confirmed his son's return on Friday, expressing his excitement for an upcoming family reunion, but did not disclose more details about the case.

According to China Central Television reports, the young man came back to China safely through a port in Pu'er, Yunnan province. Police investigation showed after going missing, he traveled through Ma'anshan in Anhui, Nanjing in Jiangsu province, and Kunming in Yunnan province, before his trail ultimately went cold in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.

The reports also showed that on Wednesday, Hu's parents received messages that their son had escaped from a site suspected of telecom fraud in Myanmar and would re-enter China on Friday morning.

Chinese media previously reported that Hu Yixiao left Lujiang in search of a job in Hefei in April. Two months later, his father noticed something unusual as his son's phone data usage decreased significantly, and he was unable to reach him by phone.

Hu Yixiao's mother called up police in both Hefei and Lujiang after failing to find their son in Hefei. With the police's help, the parents discovered that Hu Yixiao had fled to Xishuangbanna on June 5, according to thecover.cn, a news outlet based in Sichuan province.

To further conduct a search, at the end of June, Hu Zongbing arrived in Xishuangbanna, where his son was last seen through a security camera in Jinghong city, which borders Myanmar. Later, he was told by police that his son was once located in Yangon, Myanmar, thecover.cn said.

On July 15, the public security bureau in Hefei posted a statement announcing that they had begun working with other authorities to search for the young man and investigate the case.

Before Hu Yixiao's return, he used someone else's mobile phone to send a message to his parents from abroad, thecover.cn added.
