Over 400 dancers from more than 10 countries, including the United States, Russia, France, and Italy, will gather in Shenyang, Liaoning province, for the first Liaoning (Shenyang) Ballet Competition from Aug 8 to 14.

The opening ceremony will feature the original dance drama Qi Xi, which integrates Chinese culture with international aesthetics.

At the closing ceremony, star dancers from world-class ballet troupes, such as the Bolshoi Theatre and the Berlin State Ballet, will perform on the same stage with the gold medalists.

As a focal point for ballet in China, Shenyang is home to the Liaoning Ballet, one of the three top ballet troupes in the country. Over the past 44 years, it has won more than 170 silver or better awards in international competitions.

The holding of this international competition showcases the development achievements of Chinese ballet and builds an important cultural exchange platform for the world's ballet community.
