Three more people trapped due to a landslide in a village in Baiyun district of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, were found on Friday morning after nearly 48 hours of search and rescue efforts, according to local emergency management authorities.
The mountain landslide occurred in Dayuan village, in the northern mountainous part of the provincial capital, at around 8:30 am on Wednesday, damaging houses and leaving 14 people trapped.
As of Friday morning, there is still one missing individual, and rescue operations are ongoing, the emergency management authorities said.
Continuous heavy rainfall across most parts of Guangdong over the past few days was blamed for the landslide, the authorities said.
