At the cultural square of Kunlun Jiayuan Community in Akto county, Kizilsu Kirgiz autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, children chase each other in play while elderly residents relax and chat under grapevine trellises.

More than 20 medical experts from Jiangxi were offering free health consultations on Thursday in a community that was built with assistance from their province.

"We decorated this 80-square-meter home by ourselves," said resident Axir Tayir, pointing to traditional embroidery adorning the walls.

The house blends ethnic decorative elements with modern appliances. Eight years ago, his family of five lived in a remote mountain area, relying on herding for survival in a cramped earthen house, with limited access to education and healthcare.

After relocating to the new community in 2017, Axir initially struggled with greenhouse vegetable farming, losing money due to a lack of technical knowledge. But with guidance from Jiangxi's experts, he mastered the skill and became a seasoned grower.

Now, he and his wife manage six greenhouses, harvesting twice a year, with each greenhouse making them about 20,000 yuan ($2,784) annually.

The community now houses 6,640 residents who were relocated from six towns, including Chalun and Baren.

The settlement is divided into residential, farming, livestock and support zones, featuring 68 apartment buildings, while the farming area includes 1,712 greenhouses.

The livestock zone has two standardized breeding bases with a total area of 4,000 square meters and 100 pens, each with 40 square meters. These breeding facilities are allocated to families in need of herding space.

The support zone is equipped with facilities including a kindergarten, a primary school, a health center and shops. The community infrastructure also includes water, electricity, gas, heating and internet services.
