Federation for humanoid robot sports launches at World Humanoid Robot Games

A federation dedicated to advancing humanoid robot sports was established at the conclusion of the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Sunday, according to Beijing News.
The World Humanoid Robotics Games Federation was jointly launched by the World Robot Cooperation Organization, the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliance, RoboCup Asia-Pacific, and the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
"We believe that the establishment of this federation is of milestone significance and will promote in-depth cooperation in the global fields of robotics and artificial intelligence," said Zhou Changjiu, vice-president of the RoboCup Federation.
The federation aims to build a top-tier competition brand as the global leader in high-level humanoid robot sports. It looks to host diverse events, drive cutting-edge technology advancements in mobility, collaboration, and AI through competitions and exchanges, and establish widely recognized standards for performance testing, safety, and competition rules. It also plans to capitalize on the publicity of its events to advance education and foster a global industry ecosystem by connecting academia, research, enterprises, and investors for sustainable growth.
The first World Humanoid Robotics Games began on Thursday. The Beijing government, China Media Group, the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and RoboCup Asia-Pacific jointly hosted the three-day event.
It attracted 280 teams from 16 countries, producing 26 gold medals.
"We look forward to working hand in hand to promote the professional development, popularization, and international exchange of comprehensive robot competitive sports, light up the dream of innovation with the charm of technological competition, and make robot sports a dynamic bond connecting technological exploration, talent cultivation, and industrial integration," Zhou added.
Beijing will host the second World Humanoid Robot Games in August 2026.
