Li Hanjun, former chief of staff of the People's Liberation Army Navy, has been expelled from the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, for suspected serious violations of discipline and law, according to an official release.

As per a document released recently by the NPC Standing Committee on its website, the PLA Navy decided to remove Li from his position as a deputy to NPC when it held a meeting on May 6. Li was found to be allegedly involved in severe violations of the Communist Party of China disciplines and national laws.

Available public information shows that Li, 59, a native of Zhejiang province, was admitted to the PLA Dalian Naval Academy in Liaoning province, and served in the naval forces for a long time.
